Our 8th grade students get into the ACT

The Hawaii Department of Education will administer the ACT College and Career Readiness System on a statewide basis beginning School Year 2012-13. It will consist of the following assessments:

1. EXPLORE for all grades 8 and 9 students
2. PLAN for all grade 10 students
3: ACT Plus Writing for all grade 11 students

King Intermediate will administer the EXPLORE on May 1-2, 2013 to all our 8th grade students.
EXPLORE is a curriculum-based educational and career planning program for 8th and 9th graders that measures achievement in English, math, reading and science. The assessment is based on the major areas of high school and post secondary instructional programs and measures the skills and knowledge needed for college success. EXPLORE is designed to help students explore a broad range of options for their future. EXPLORE includes a career exploration component that stimulates students' thinking about future plans and relates personal characteristics to career options. Assessing students before high school also helps them build rigorous high school coursework plans to get, or stay, on track for their educational and career goals

Together we will prepare your student to be college and career ready. Please call Pamela Kino, School Programs Counselor, at 233-5727, ext. 231, if you have any questions.
