NOTICE to Parents and Students: The possession and/or use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) is a contraband offense (Class D offense) in the Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) Title 8 Chapter 19 Student Misconduct, Discipline, School Searches and Seizures, Reporting Offenses, Police Interviews and Arrests, and Restitution for Vandalism. Consequently, a student in violation of this offense is subject to the disciplinary actions under the provisions of this chapter. Based on the current definitions in HAR Chapter 19, e-cigarettes are not classified as “smoking” or “use of tobacco.”
